An intraoral scanner is a device used to detect the surface contours of an object and capture them as 3D data. Typically, the object is irradiated with a laser to acquire its three-dimensional structure. This data is then converted into polygonal data, usually composed of a mesh of triangular surfaces. In essence, objects that absorb laser light or have poor reflectivity are more difficult for the scanner to capture accurately.
In recent years, 3D printing has emerged as a highly efficient and cost-effective solution for establishing an in-house dental workflow. Dentists, dental technicians, and assistants can now produce custom-made dental appliances on-site, ranging from orthodontic aligners and implant models to surgical guides and crowns. Compared to traditional methods, 3D printing significantly reduces production time while delivering greater accuracy and highly detailed results.
Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) is an advanced medical imaging technique that utilizes a cone-shaped X-ray beam to generate detailed, three-dimensional images of the teeth, jaws, and surrounding anatomical structures. As a specialized form of traditional computed tomography (CT), CBCT is especially valuable in dentistry, orthopedics, and ear, nose, and throat (ENT) applications due to its precision and lower radiation exposure.
Diode lasers are useful in soft tissue surgery in the mouth, especially for small bumps or lesions. They are easy to use, cause less bleeding, and usually don't require stitches. People often feel less pain and swelling after the procedure. Diode lasers also help improve the appearance of dark gums. Compared to regular gum surgery, they work faster, cause less bleeding, and help the area heal better, making them a good first choice for many treatments.
