    Dentures

    Dentures in Rowland Hacienda Dental

    What Are Dentures?

Dentures are removable appliances that replace missing teeth in your upper or lower jaw, or both. They’re made from materials like acrylic, resin, nylon, metal, and porcelain. There are several types of dentures based on your dental needs. Full dentures replace all teeth in one arch and sit on your gums, while partial dentures are used when you still have some natural teeth, using clasps to stay in place. Immediate dentures are worn right after tooth removal, sometimes temporarily until your mouth heals.

Other options include implant-retained and implant-supported dentures. Implant-retained dentures snap onto dental implants and can be removed for cleaning, offering better stability than traditional ones. Implant-supported dentures, on the other hand, are fixed in place and only removable by a dentist. These are ideal for people who want a more permanent solution, though they require more detailed cleaning each day.

    Removable Partial Dentures

If you’re missing one or more teeth, a removable partial denture can fill the gap. It fits comfortably in your mouth and can be taken out for cleaning or while you sleep. Some dentures have a plastic base that fits the shape of your gums, while others use a metal frame that attaches to nearby teeth. Some dentures snap into place with special fittings.

It’s important to clean the denture and the nearby teeth every day. Keeping the teeth around the denture healthy helps it stay in place. With good care, a partial denture can last a long time.

    Immediate Dentures

Immediate dentures are dentures made before removing the remaining teeth and are placed right after the teeth are taken out. The dentist takes an impression of the natural teeth while they’re still in the mouth, and the dentures are created based on that. This allows the patient to have dentures right away, so they don't have to go without teeth or wait for a month like with traditional dentures. Immediate dentures help patients get used to wearing them faster.

Fixed Hybrid Dentures (All-On-Four or Teeth In A Day)

All-On-4 fixed hybrid dentures offer a quick solution, with patients often getting their new teeth on the same day as the implant surgery. This reduces the time without teeth, making it easier to get back to normal activities. The procedure is less invasive because the implants are placed at an angle, making it a good option for people with less bone.

These dentures are more stable and comfortable than regular dentures, which can slip or move. The implants keep the dentures firmly in place, so you can eat and speak without worry. They are designed to look like natural teeth and can last for many years with proper care, also helping to prevent further bone loss in the jaw.
